The Russian government has started discussing the idea of complete abandoning paper cash receipts. At the beginning of March, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation put the issue up for discussion and also worked out a phased approach for its implementation - only electronic cheques will be used.

According to the Ministry, about 10,000 tons of thermal paper are used for cheques every year. The meeting on the issue was held on March 13. The Federal Tax Service expressed its readiness to support the initiative, provided that it does not violate the rights of purchasers and the Russian Environmental Operator also supported the idea.
