Dagestan improves system of long-term care for elders and people with disabilities

The regional Ministry of Labor and Social Development held a meeting on the development of system of long-term care for the elders and people with disabilities. The minister Murad Kaziev. noted the difficulties in implementing the new system and urged colleagues to open dialogue and search for solutions taking into account the tasks set.

Deputy Minister Abdulkerim Abdullayev presented a report on results of the work. Since September 2023, the system of long-term care has been operating in Makhachkala, Kaspiysk and Kizlyar. Rental points for technical rehabilitation equipment have been established, free social services at home and training in the "School of Care" have been organized. In 2023, 106 people were trained under the "Care Assistant" program, and about 200 people in need received 1.5 million social services.

“In 2024 it is planned to expand the program and cover more people in need. In collaboration with the Public Health Ministry, we are working to identify potential locations and train specialists to ensure the success of our efforts” – Abdullayev said.

The heads of social protection agencies shared their experiences and discussed challenging issues. Murad Kaziev encouraged active participation and initiative, underscoring the importance of providing high-quality services.
