The event has been held in the republic on the initiative of region’s governor Sergei Melikov since 2022. The main event is traditionally the banner solemn raising ceremony. This is an action symbolizing the Great Victory Banner raised by the Red Army on the roof of the Reichstag in 1945.

On May 6, the event will begin in the central square of Kaspiysk. Veterans, leaders of the republic, politicians, public figures, the Great Patriotic War participants and the members of their families will gather in the city of Kaspiysk. The representatives of Belgorod Region and Palestine, who are currently in Dagestan, have also been invited.

There will be a procession, cultural program and other events. At the same time, the "Banner of Victory" event will be held in every municipality of the republic. The main feature of this year's event will be its geographical reach. A motor rally is being organized to bring the torch to the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District.

A convoy of cars will depart from Kaspiysk and travel through the following regions: Chechen Republic, Ingushetia, North Ossetia-Alania, Kabardino-Balkaria and Stavropol Region and Karachay-Cherkessia.
