In 2024, Dagestan fish farmers plan to increase production to almost 7 thousand tons. As reported by the State Fisheries Committee, in 2023 the republic will produce 6.453 thousand tons of fish, including 677 tons of sturgeon and 4.5 tons of trout.

The growth in 2024 is planned due to the increase of trout stocking in fish farms of Shamilski, Tsumadinski and Tlyaratinski municipal districts, as well as the implementation of the investment project by "Irganayskaya trout" LLC. It is also planned to increase the volume of production of particulate fish species by increasing the capacity of ponds by 40 hectares.
