In recent years, 31 licenses for geological exploration of undiscovered subsoil areas have been issued, and more than 15 million cubic meters of reserves of common minerals have been accounted for. Their annual production in the region averages up to 5 million cubic meters.

The republic has potential opportunities to organize the expansion of production of such popular products as crushed stone, gypsum, gypsum building materials, dry building mixtures, lime, sawn and decorative stone, production of ceramic tiles, bricks and cement.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Dagestan has approved a roadmap for granting licenses for the right to use subsoil for geological studies, exploration and extraction of minerals, which will increase the transparency of the procedure and eliminate the risk of corruption.

As to Dagestani Head Sergei Melikov, in Dagestan there is a large number of natural resource extraction companies operating in different municipalities. The top official urged them to get out of the shadow economy. “All companies should focus on increasing the gross regional product by paying taxes and creating jobs" – Melikov said.
