Two gunmen destroyed in Shamilski district of Dagestan

Makhachkala, August 24, 2016. Two militants have been neutralized in a shootout with security forces on Wednesday night in Shamilski district of Dagestan, the press service officer of the republican Interior Ministry says.

"The security forces officers noticed two suspicious men while executing routine operational procedures. The unknown opened fire on the law enforcers when the latter tried to stop the suspects for check. By return fire, the attackers were shot dead. No casualties among the security forces reported. Surveying the area, the police officers found automatic assault rifles. The attackers have been pre-identified as members of the local militants’ gang" - the source reported.

The interviewee added that the investigators verify information on the involvement of those killed in the crimes committed in the region: the killing of the local district court judge and some other crimes.
