Putin calls on more active involvement of investors in Dagestan to improve business climate

Makhachkala, March 13, 2018. The Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin has called on more active involvement of investors in Dagestan and to improve the business climate in the region. This was discussed at the meeting on the socio-economic development of the region held today in Makhachkala, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov says.

"We need to more effectively use Dagestan's investment potential, to attract both Russian and foreign investors" the press secretary quotes the Russian President. Putin named agriculture, food production, manufacturing and tourism among the areas for making long-term investments.

The president also set the task "to consistently improve the business climate" in the region, supporting entrepreneurial activity.

As to Peskov, the president suggested discussing the measures necessary to more effective development of the region's potential and improvement of people's quality of life. At the same time V.Putin noted positive dynamics achieved in a number of directions last year. So, according to him, the industrial production in 2017 grew by almost 16%, with the processing sector - 19.5%. Among the problems noted by V.Putin was the high level of corruption. "This social phenomenon extends far beyond Dagestan, in the other regions of our large country" - Putin said.
