Makhachkala, May 14, 2014. On May 13, there was a ceremonial opening of the 6th International judo tournament for Russian President’s prizes at the Gamid Gamidov Palace in Khasavyurt, a source in the press center of the tournament told RIA "Daghestan". The overcrowded 5,000 seat hall rose in applause to greet a distinguished guest - Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov heading a government delegation at the sports and political event.

After presentation of the participating delegations and teams, Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov took the floor. Welcoming the participants and guests, he noted that Khasavyurt is a Russian city of sport fame, a home to many Olympic, worlds, European champions. It is symbolic that the representative tournament in Khasavyurt bears the name of Vladimir Putin. The president has done a lot for Russia and Daghestan, starting from the hard 1999. And today, thanks to Putin's foreign policy, teams from Crimea and Sevastopol retrieved by Russia are participating in the tournament.

Then, following a tradition, there was a big concert of singers and dancers from Daghestan’s northern capital. Khasavyurt mayor Arslan Arslanov awarded the young athletes from Khasavyurt with cash prizes for their successful performance in various sports in 2013-2014.

Ramazan Abdulatipov established his own prizes for the winners - Daghestani Head’s watches. The tournament will continue until May 14, the day of its closing and the awarding ceremony.
