"Shamil. Final Way" documentary to be presented in Turkey

Makhachkala, February 17, 2015. The "Shamil. Final Way" documentary will be presented in Turkey following the agreement reached at the meeting of the Shamil International Foundation leadership with Dagestan Envoy at the Russian Trade Mission in Turkey Tavlu Kazakbiev.

"Shamil. Final Way" is a 30-minute long story about the life of the great Imam of Dagestan and Chechnya after leaving Russia for Istanbul until his death in Medina. The script writer is playwright Shapi Kaziev. The film shows Shamil’s Holy Quran that had been stored by a UK national, as well as Shamil’s banner, and the real picture of the emperor palace on the Suez Canal. It had taked about a year to shoot the film. The film has participated in some international film festivals, one of them being the 17th International Short Film Festival in Serbia.

After a recent presentation of the documentary, the Shamil International Foundation leadership in the person of its chairman and adviser to the Dagestan head Shapi Kaziev, chairman and CEO of the foundation Omar Gadjiyev and Magomed Aliyev visited the Makhachkala office of Dagestan branch of the Russian Trade Mission in Turkey.

During the meeting, officials from the foundation expressed their gratitude to Dagestan branch of the Russian Trade Mission in Turkey for their assistance, support and hand in organizing the shooting of the episodes about Shamil’s stay in Istanbul before traveling to Mecca for Hajj. Further, the parties agreed on assistance with presenting the film in Turkey and their further cooperation in various areas.

"Imam Shamil is a very much respected person in Turkey. We are pleased that we were able to help you in shooting this unique film. We will make every effort to help the film about Shamil be shown in Turkey. After all, our every move is about raising the image of Dagestan in Turkey" - Kazakbiev said.
