The State Expert Committee has reviewed and approved the documentation for the construction of a new section of Derbent Dam. Noteworthy, the Russian Federation Government approved a comprehensive plan for the development of Derbent till 2025. There are 85 points in the plan: the construction of social facilities and creation of infrastructure for tourism development. In particular, the authorities will extend the city's embankment.

The project envisages the creation of a promenade with tourist infrastructure, the creation of a beach, commercial areas, pier walls and the construction of the lower station of the cable car that will ascend from the embankment to the Naryn-Kala citadel.

The project is divided into six phases, the first of which has now been reviewed and approved by the State Expert Committee. Under this stage, it is planned to build 1.5 kilometers of embankment.
