Makhachkala, August 15, 2018. The Russia’s defense minister Sergei Shoigu will inspect the construction site for the facilities of the Caspian flotilla and hold a meeting with the leadership of the republic.

The Russian Defense Minister, the Army General Sergei Shoigu arrived on Wednesday with a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District, deployed in Dagestan, the ministry press secretary Russiana Markovskaya is quoted saying.
The head of the military department will also hold a meeting on the issues related to the development of the flotilla basing system in Dagestan.

Recall, in early April, Shoigu said that the Caspian flotilla would be transferred from Astrakhan to Kaspiysk. In mid-May, the deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov said that the first stage of the preparatory work on the deployment of the Caspian Flotilla units in Kaspiysk would have been completed by the end of 2018.
