Makhachkala to host festival of national costumes "Etnopolis"

Makhachkala, June 18, 2015. In October, the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala will host a festival of national costumes "Etnopolis". A round table on organizational issues has taken place yesterday in the House of Friendship in Makhachkala.

The roundtable participants - designers, fashion designers, employees of national museums, teachers and entrepreneurs, made their constructive suggestions to organize and improve the preparatory work for the festival.

Agenda included issues called to familiarize all the interested persons with the procedures and schedule of the festival, to prepare and approve the list of members of the organizing committee, the overall design, style and logo of the festival, etc.

The festival is held on the initiative of the National Costumes Laboratory at the Friendship House. The main purpose of the event is to preserve and revival folk traditions, to promote and identify the best samples of genuine national costume of the peoples of Russia, to stimulate interest among artists and designers to explore the traditional suits, to revive and preserve the traditional methods of manufacturing national costumes as well as the ways of decoration.

The masters, fashion designers, artists and designers who work in museums, art groups workshops, fashion houses, theater costume, as well as participants of folk groups, keepers of the samples of folk costumes, students and teachers of creative specialties have been invited to try themselves in the festival.

The show will be held in three categories: ethnographic costume - ethnographic reconstruction with preservation of local features and traditional technologies; costume - national costume, harmoniously combined with a repertoire of programs and creative team; modern suit that meets the requirements of contemporary fashion, using the latest technologies and materials.
