Makhachkala, April 5, 2018. The festival "Culture and Traditions of the Peoples of Dagestan" has opened yesterday at Dagestan State University, the press service of University informs. The program of the event envisages holding a quiz on the knowledge of culture of the native land, a contest "National dish", a drawing competition on the theme "Culture and traditions of the peoples of Dagestan" and a fashion show "Dagestan ethnos and modern society". The students of major universities of the republic: DSU, DSMU, DSPU, DSINE, DSAA have become the participants of the festival.

Several stands with the attributes of Dagestan culture: the national dishes and posters prepared by the festival participants; the books in the languages of the peoples of Dagestan; the compositions made of Tabasaran carpets and the real weaving loom have been prepared for the festival visitors.

The chairman of the primary trade union organization of the State University Nukhkadi Rabazanov, expressed hope that the event would become traditional in the republic. "Do not forget your roots, the traditions in which you were brought up. It is necessary to preserve and to know the history and culture of the native land. I am pleased to see today the students of our university as well as the students of the other higher schools. I hope that this event will become traditional" - Rabazanov said.
The best students were awarded with valuable prizes. Besides, they got an opportunity to take part in master classes on folk art: burning on leather, cooking, oratorical art and national dances.
