International Youth Song Festival "Europe-Russia-Derbent-Asia" kicks off in Derbent

Makhachkala, May 15, 2015. The International Youth Song Festival "Europe-Russia-Derbent-Asia", dedicated to the celebration of the 2000th anniversary of the city of Derbent, kicks off May 18 on the central square of the city, the Ministry of Culture RD reports.

The festival organizers are the Ministry of Culture of Dagestan, the Republican House of Folk Art, Derbent Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve "Naryn-Kala", the Museum of World Cultures and Religions, the municipal department of culture, press, religion, and national relations, the district department of culture of Derbent District, the Republican Training Center, Dagestan Art College and Tabasaran State Drama Theatre.

The pop group from Moscow, amateur creative teams and performers of songs from Derbent, Buynaksk, Gergebil, Makhachkala, Derbent, Kizlyar, Khasavyurt, Dagestan State Philharmonic soloists and vocal groups and performers from the Astrakhan region, Stavropol Territory and Azerbaijan attend the festive event.
"The role of the center of traditional culture of the peoples of Russia in preservation of ethnic and cultural heritage" conference and a poster exhibition "Europe-Russia-Derbent-Asia" with participation of pupils of arts school and colleges, young artists, amateur authors, artists from Derbent, Kurah district, Makhachkala, Dagestanskye Ogni, Izberbash, Derbent, Dagestan State Pedagogical University and the students of DSU will have become a constituent part of the creative festival "Europe-Russia-Derbent-Asia".

The topics for the poster painting had been determined as follows "The 2000 th anniversary of Derbent", "Medieval history of Derbent - the ancient crossroads of civilizations", “Derbent as the center of reliable fortress on the great Silk Road linking Europe, Asia and the Middle East", "Interweaving Cultures of the Middle East , Western Asia and Eastern Europe", "Our traditions - our unity".

The objectives of the festival "Europe-Russia-Derbent-Asia", according to the organizers, are to involve the young people to artistic creativity and to develop their creative potential; to promote patriotic, internationalist upbringing of the youth; to expand creative contacts, to strengthen peace and friendship relations in the region, to demonstrate the creative achievements and to exchange experience among the youth.
