"Dagestan ethnographic expedition" art project to be presented in Moscow

Makhachkala, December 17, 2014.  "Dagestan ethnographic expedition" art project will be presented in the Moscow House of Nationalities on December 18, the press service of Dagestan Permanent Mission at the Russian President told RIA Dagestan.

The event will tell the visitors about the expeditions headed by outstanding Russian scientist-ethnologist and Caucasianist Evgeniy Schilling that played a major role in the study and preservation of the material and spiritual culture of Dagestani peoples.

Schilling had travelled the entire Caucasus, mostly Dagestan where he had done a great ethnographic study of multiple indigenous peoples and their way of life, housing, clothing, rituals, customs, and handicrafts meaning to bring us the invaluable material on the republic’s culture and ethnography.

The project was launched on the initiative of the Russian Cultural Foundation’s Dagestan branch as part of the project by the Gallery of the Moscow House of Nationalities. The exposition will be running in the Moscow House of Nationalities on December 15 to January 15.
