Makhachkala, March 13, 2018. According to officer of the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republicof Dagestan Kerimkhan Abasov, the construction of a storage facility designed for 5,000 tons of grapes will begin this year in Dagestan. The ministry official told about this at the All-Russian Forum of Agricultural Producers in Krasnodar.

According to K.Abasov, the investor plans to start the construction of the facility this year. Due to the acute shortage of store houses in the North Caucasian republic, the table grapes have to be given to cognac and wine enterprises.
It should be noted that about 1,500 tons are planted annually in Dagestan. The republic ranks second after Krasnodar Krai for the production of grapes.

As to Abasov, apart from the viticulture, the republic is actively developing gardening. The main problem is that there is not enough storage. At present, there are 30,000 tons of storage facilities in the republic. And this, according to the interim minister Abasov, does not meet the modern requirements.

As for the construction of storage facilities, they will be built in southern regions of Dagestan, Makhachkala, Kizlyar and Khasavyurt. "If we can solve the problem with storage, we will have our own grapes and fruits for the markets of Dagestan all year round" - Abasov is quoted saying.
