More than RUR 580 million to be spent on development of viticulture in Dagestan in 2018

Makhachkala, November 6, 2018. This year more than 580 million rubles have been spent in Dagestan on the development of viticulture, of which over 100 million rubles are the funds from the regional budget, the chairman of the Government Committee on viticulture, production and turnover of alcohol and alcohol-containing products of Dagestan Gaidar Shuaibov said on Sunday.

According to Shuaybov, 713 hectares were laid in the republic this year. "In total, in 2018, it is planned to plant more 1.5 thousand hectares of vineyards" Shuaibov is quoted saying.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan, the republic takes the second place in Russia in gross yield and in vineyard areas, second only to the Krasnodar Territory. The total area of vineyards in Dagestan is more than 25 thousand hectares, of which more than 18 thousand hectares are the fruit-bearing ones.
