MAKHACHKALA, May 7 – RIA "Dagestan." A photo exhibition titled "Stories of Victory" has opened at the "Russia – My History" historical park in Makhachkala, featuring images of commemorative coins minted by the Bank of Russia that depict key events and heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition showcases coin designs illustrating the defense of Moscow, the breaking of the Leningrad Blockade, the raising of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag, and other pivotal moments, with particular emphasis on the heroism of soldiers and nurses.
According to Dzhamilya Alieva, Deputy Head of the Bank of Russia Branch in Dagestan, the exhibition allows visitors to appreciate the masterful work of medalists who meticulously captured historical episodes, human faces, and even photographic scenes on coins. She highlighted one example: the arrival of the Victory Train at Belorussky Station in Moscow in 1945, originally captured by photojournalism pioneer Arkady Shaikhet, was transferred onto a coin sixty years later.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and will remain open to residents and guests of Makhachkala throughout May.
