MAKHACHKALA, October 21 – RIA "Dagestan". The N.Ts. Tsakhaev Republican Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics reported on successful limb salvage of two patients who sustained severe upper-extremity injuries in angle grinder accidents. After emergency inter-facility transfers from a municipal hospital, the patients were diagnosed with incomplete traumatic amputations of the forearm and hand, involving critical damage to nerves, blood vessels and tendons.
A specialized surgical team performed complex microsurgical reconstructions to restore anatomical integrity and salvage both limbs. Notably, evaluations performed 72 hours after surgery confirmed full recovery of motor function in the affected body parts. Following the acute care phase, both patients have been successfully transitioned into structured rehabilitative programs to ensure full functional recovery.
