Dagestani taekwondo practitioners to perform at World Taekwondo Competition in South Korea

Makhachkala, June 21, 2017. Four Dagestani taekwondo practitioners acting for the Russian and Azerbaijani national teams will participate in the 23rd World Taekwondo Championship, held in South Korea on June 24 to 30.

As it informed, Dagestani athletes Bolat Izutdinov ( up to 63 kg), the Olympic champion Abdurakhim Isayev (over 87 kg), the bronze medalist of the Games in Rio de Janeiro Patimat Abakarova (49 kg), as well as the silver prize-winner of the Islamic Games Gashim Magomedov (54 kg) will lead the Russian and Azerbaijan national teams in Muju.  

About a thousand athletes from 183 countries will fight for awards in the eight weight categories among men and women within the seven competitive days.
Besides, the sportsmen will compete for rating points that will be useful in the selection for the Olympics-2020. The winners in every weight category will receive 120 points and will take part in the Grand Prix series.
