Makhachkala, May 22, 2017. According to preliminary information, more than a thousand people have taken part in the republican volleyball festival held on Sunday, May 21, in the Markarov Sports School in Makhachkala.
112 teams formed of the pupils of Makhachkala secondary schools, the employees of ministries and departments of the republic, the university and college students and the veterans of Dagestan volleyball took part in the sports event.
The Committee of the People's Assembly of Dagestan on education, science, culture, youth affairs, sports and tourism, the Ministry of Sport, the Ministry of Education, Makhachkala city administration,, Dagestan State Technical University and the republican Volleyball Federation have become the organizers of the festival.
"The volleyball is on the rise in Dagestan" the deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Shamil Bakharchiev said. Bakharchiev played volleyball in the past, being the head coach of the republican combined team.
“This is indicated by the recent successes of our students at the All-Russian Games, the game of the team "Dagestan" in the top league "A". Besides, one can remember the sports veterans who became the champions and owners of the Cup of Russia. The list of achievements can be continued. Volleyball in our republic is developing largely thanks to the support of the Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov. On his initiative, many good teams fr om the Super League come to Dagestan and the volleyball fans in Dagestan could personally see the Olympic champions. The young people have an incentive, especially since a Volleyball Centre was recently opened in Makhachkala. As for the festival of volleyball, this is an innovation for our republic.
The organizers of the festival proceeded from the experience of foreign countries, wh ere such events are held regularly. This is another step to popularize volleyball. The great number of applications prove the fact that the event excited considerable interest among the residents of the republic” – Bakharchiev noted.
