11 countries to participate in Intercontinental Freestyle Wrestling World Cup in Khasavyurt

Makhachkala, September 29, 2014. Eleven foreign sports delegations have confirmed their participation in the sixth in the row Intercontinental Freestyle Wrestling World Cup to be held in Khasavyurt, executive director of the Daghestan Freestyle Wrestling Federation Abshin Abshinov reports.

The 6th Intercontinental Freestyle Wrestling World Cup will be taking place in the Gamid Gamidov Khasavyurt sports complex 18-19 October. This event is to commemorate the famous athletes whose names are in golden letters inscribed in the freestyle wrestling history. Olympic silver medalist Magomedkhan Aratsilov will be the chief referee here.

In addition to the Russian and Daghestan teams, teams from the United States, Iran, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Georgia have confirmed their participation in the tournament. Teams from Ukraine and Armenia are still considering participation.

Athletes will compete for medals in eight weights (57, 61, 65, 70, 74, 86, 97, and 125 kg) which is a weight more than in 2013. The organizing committee has established cash prizes and gifts for medal winners. The first place means a $5,000 prize, the second place is about $3,000, and the third place will bring $1,000. The champions’ coaches will also be awarded $1,000.
