Makhachkala, May 28, 2019. Yesterday, May 27, the deputies of Dagestan Parliament handed over medal "For Valiant Labor" to Zalibek Zalibekov, the chief researcher of the Institute of Geology of Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor and doctor of biological sciences.

The pleasant mission was tasked to the chairman of the parliament Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism Murat Payzulaev. The deputies Gamidulah Magomedov, Lyudmila Avshalumova, Marina Kotenko, Anna Bezrukova also took part in the solemn awarding ceremony. In his welcoming speech, Murat Payzulaev noted Zalibekov’s great contribution to the scientific fund of Dagestan and the whole Russia. Payzulaev wished the scientist inexhaustible creative energy and fruitful work.

It was noted that professor Zalibekov is the author of more than 200 scientific works, including 5 monographs and 10 thematic maps and textbooks on “Soil Science”. More than 20 candidates and doctors of science were trained under scientific supervision of the professor. For the first time in Dagestan, Zalibekov started training local soil scientists. In 1995, the professor initiated the foundation of the International Academic Journal "Arid Ecosystems" being currently edited by him.

Gamidulah Magomedov in his speech focused on the pedagogical merit of the professor. The deputy noted with regret that the young scientists are in many respects inferior to such professionals in their field as Zalibek Zalibekov. The other deputies noted Zalibekov’s high professionalism and outstanding contribution to the development of science. They wished the scientists creative longevity and new victories. Zalibek Zalibekov for his part expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of the republic for the attention paid.
