Dagestani team wins National Humor Cup

Moscow, December 12, 2014. Dagestani team won the cup of the 5th Moscow festival of national humor "Our Guys" held in Novy Arbat on December 10, the press service of the team told RIA "Dagestan".

The festival is a contest for national and international KVN* teams representing different domestic regions and the CIS countries. Dagestan was represented by Dagestani team group. Team captain Absalutdin Gamzatov said the festival aimed at building the atmosphere of international understanding among young people in Moscow.

The guests of honour at the festival were State Duma deputies, members of the Russian President’s International Relations Council, members of the Russian Public Chamber, and officials fr om the Moscow government.

Shumi Shabataev, the Russian President’s authorised delegate in Dagestan who is a member of Dagestan Public Chamber and a part-time director of the team commented:

"This victory is very important for us. Our guys always keep in mind not just to perform well or just win the game and the cup, but to show the true Dagestan, a decent land of traditions and customs, of a good sense of Caucasian humor and the art of making fun of themselves. This is not humor for humor’s sake, it's something more.

"KVN unites people of all faiths, nationalities and mentalities. This is a planet where all live in harmony. And I am happy that we are part of developing good relations between people. This is an essential thing. And, of course, I would like to thank Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov, Dagestan prime minister Abdussamad Gamidov, and chairman of Dagestan National Assembly Hizri Shikhsaidova," -Shabataev enlarged.
