Dagestan enters top five regions with best birth rates

Makhachkala, January 25, 2017. The Republic of Dagestan has entered the top five regions with the highest birth rate in Russia. 400 kids were born since the beginning of the year, the website of the republican Public Health Ministry reports.

According to the experts, the number of boys and girls is almost equal. In Dagestan, the families usually have more than one child. According to statistics, more than 80 thousand of families have two and more children. The number of families with three and more children increases from year to year. It is also noted that the twins are often born. Only in 2016 they were 50 twins in Dagestani families.

The increasing number of marriages play an important role. In 2016 there were registered almost 4000 marriages. The number of divorces usually amounts to 30% of the total number of new families.
