Makhachkala, June 9, 2014. On June 9, a charity selling exhibition of works participating in the "Bright childhood planet" contest opens at the Gamzatov National Library, a source in the ministry of labour and social development informed RIA "Daghestan".

The republic-wide contest of children's drawings and crafts had been organized by the ministry in April-May, 2014. Its goal is to draw public attention to how children live, how well their rights are upheld and respected, how to prevent social orphanhood, and promote moral values in the family.

The source says that visitors will see the best works by children from social service institutions of the labour ministry from all over Daghestan. All proceeds from the exhibition will be channeled for helping children with disabilities living in the "Care" boarding home for mentally retarded children. The boarding facility houses retarded children aged 4-18 for permanent or temporary treatment.

Today, 105 children with psycho-neurological diseases live in the care home, 36 of them are bedridden patients with severe physical and pathological disorders unable to walk independently and take care of themselves.
The "Bright childhood planet" exhibition will last until June 15, the source says.
