Top officials discuss development of viticulture and wine-making in Dagestan

Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Dagestani Head Sergei Melikov chaired a meeting on the development of viticulture and wine-making in the Republic of Dagestan in Kizlyar.

The prime minister of the region Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov highlighted the current state and prospects of industrial development in Dagestan. The top officials discussed measures adopted by the federal government to support viticulture and wine-making, including the Federal Law "On Viticulture and Wine-making in the Russian Federation", which provides preferences and support to producers of natural wine products.

Reshetnikov noted Dagestan's active participation in drafting the law and thanked the republican leadership for its attention to the industry development. The Head of the region, Sergei Melikov, expressed gratitude for support of the federal Ministry which contributed to the implementation of groundbreaking projects and investment in promising areas.

As to Melikov, the investments in the development of viticulture and winemaking had a significant impact on the regional economy, contributing to the growth of related industries and increasing the gross regional product. Noteworthy, Dagestan occupies a leading position in the country in terms of grape production.
The meeting was attended by the leading representatives of the republic's viticulture and wine-making industry, who outlined current issues and planned development prospects. As a result of the meeting, decisions were made to further support and develop viticulture and wine-making in Dagestan as an important and promising branch of the regional economy.
