Makhachkala, April 12, 2018. The Chairman of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee, the Director of the Federal Security Service of Russia Alexander Bortnikov chaired the regular sitting of NAC members in Moscow. The interim Head of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilyev attended the event and delivered a report.

The meeting participants considered the issues related to the antiterrorist protection of transport facilities "Krasnodar Krai - Crimea", the measures to improve the safety, as well as some aspects of training of state and municipal employees involved in the prevention of terrorism.

In his speech, the NAC Chairman noted that the leaders of international terrorist organizations do not give up attempts to inspire terrorist activities in various regions of the Russian Federation. Since the beginning of 2018, three terrorism-oriented crimes were committed in the Republic of Dagestan, the Khabarovsk Territory and the Sakhalin Oblast. Six terrorist attacks have been prevented at the preparatory stage. Since the beginning of the year, during the complex of measures implemented under the coordinating role of the NAC, the activity of 12 conspiratorial terrorist cells have been suppressed. 189 detainees have been detained and 15 bandits and their accomplices have been neutralized.

The measures taken, Bortnikov noted, managed to keep the trend of reducing the number of committed terrorist crimes in the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the terrorist threats that lose no relevance cause the need for further improvement of the national system of countering terrorism. It concerns the sphere of ensuring the protection of potential targets of terrorist attacks. The Crimean Bridge under construction is one of such object. The situation around it remains tense due to the intentions of the special services and nationalist organizations of Ukraine to commit sabotage on the territory of the Crimean peninsula.

During the discussion of issues on the agenda, the assessments of work of state agencies to ensure the antiterrorist protection of facilities was made. Besides, the NAC top officials supported the idea of organizing professional training courses for the state and municipal employees involved in activities to prevent terrorism and additional measures developed to actively tap the potential of the country's educational institutions.
