Over 5 000 Russian and foreign guests to participate in celebration of 2000th anniversary of Derbent

Makhachkala, September 17, 2015. About 40 delegations from Russian regions and foreign countries will come to celebrate the 2000th anniversary of Derbent, the museum director of Naryn-Kala citadel Ali Ibragimov reports.

According to Ibragimov, more than 5 000 people are planning to participate in the anniversary events in Derbent. Iran, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and other countries also confirmed their participations in the celebration.

"A festival of traditional culture of the peoples of Dagestan, workshops for the silverware production, a theatrical performance at the House of Peter the Great will be presented within the festival”, - A. Ibragimov said.

Ibragimov also informed that the main event of the festival would become the musical-theatrical chronicle of milleniums entitled "Potter's wheel of Derbent: from Derbent citadel to the Kremlin’s towers " held in the Naryn-Kala fortress and devoted to the main developmental milestones of Derbent to the present.

The museum director noted that all the guests of the festival would also take part in the art-action "Wish Tree": all participants and guests will decorate all the trees of the fortress with the multicolored woolen threads.
