Ensemble "Lezginka" to represent Dagestan at national holiday "Nowruz-2015" in Moscow

Makhachkala, March 20, 2015. Dagestan State Academic honored dance ensemble "Lezginka" will represent Dagestan at the celebratory event dedicated to the national holiday "Nowruz-2015" in Moscow Luzhniki Stadium on March 21, the press service of the Permanent Representation of Dagestan at the Russian Federation President reports.

The event traditionally celebrated at the highest level will be held in Moscow for the tenth time.  The Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin as well as the top officials and the honoured guests from all regions of Russia confirmed participation in the event.

The program of celebration envisages holding the Traditional Crafts Fair, national dishes tasting event, a gala concert with participation of the well-known performers, masters of art and the best creative bands from all over Russia.

The organizers of the event are Moscow Department of Interregional Cooperation, Social Inclusion and Relations with Religious Organizations, Moscow Council of Nationalities and a number of national associations.

Spring holiday “Nowruz – 2015” is celebrated on the day of the astronomical Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 21 and symbolizes the unity of culture and centuries-old traditions of the people. Nowruz has been included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
