Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts digitizes 18% of exhibits

Makhachkala, July 3, 2020. As part of the project "Digital Culture" the Museum of Fine Arts named after P.S. Gamzatova digitizes its exhibits. Yesterday, July 2, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Dagestan Zarema Butaeva got familiarized with the work carried out by the museum in this direction. The top official also evaluated the museum’s readiness to receive visitors on the eve of the second stage of lifting restrictive measures in the republic.

Museum personnel reported that about 18% of the museum’s exhibits had been digitized and included into the state catalog. It is planned to complete the work by 2025. Besides, Butaeva was presented the Artefact smartphone application and the Google Arts & Culture website, so that everyone can get info about the museum exhibits and make an interactive tour.

Thanks to the application, the site and the YouTube channel, the museum works online. As part of her visit to the museum, Butaeva thanked the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for assistance, the deputy director Aishat Magomedova for scientific work and got familiarized with the work of restorers. On the same day, the minister and the director of the museum Salikhat Gamzatova discussed questions related to the development of public exhibition activity.
