Makhachkala, March 18, 2015. American jazz singer Jamie Davis will give a concert in the hall of the Russian Drama Theatre in Makhachkala on March 24, a source in Dagestan State Philharmonic told RIA Dagestan.

Jamie Davis is an owner of an unusually beautiful baritone with a soft velvety timbre. American music reviewers called his perfect classical voice a "chocolate voice", or even a "sugar voice".

The singer grew up a youngest child in a large priest’s family. His whole family played music and sang chapels in a church choir. As young as 13 years of age, the boy set up his own jazz band that played spirituals and early rhythm-and-blues.

Once devoting himself to jazz, Jamie has been with it throughout his whole life following the steps of the best in jazz like Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Al Green and Lou Rawls. Since 1975, Davis has lived and worked in San Francisco interacting with stars of the American scene such as Milt Jackson, Eddie Henderson, Dave Lieberman, Melba Moore, Allen Smith, Vernon Alley, Pharoah Saunders and others.

One of the brightest pages of Davis’ career is performing as a soloist with the Count Basie Orchestra in 2000 which brought Davis the public recognition he had deserved.

Currently, Jamie Davis tours the United States and many European countries including Russia performing the best jazz standards and popular hits orchestrations - from Cole Porter to Stevie Wonder and Charles Mingus.
