Makhachkala, April 17, 2020. The reconstruction of the road to Saltinsky waterfall will be completed by the end of the year, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Dagestan reports. According to the department officer, the reconstruction of the entrance to the village of Salta from the Makhachkala-Upper Gunib highway is made as part of the State Program implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Dagestan.

Saltinskiy waterfall is a unique natural monument, which is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the country. Every year the tourist flow increases. Due to the growing popularity of this route and the fact that the technical condition of the existing road cannot provide reliable and safe traffic, the work on reconstruction of the road section was started.

Apart from the tourist destination, the reconstruction will give a positive impetus to socio-economic development. “The road is of great importance for the national economy, linking several settlements of Gunibsky municipality with a basic network of roads in the region, and also leads to the neighboring Levashinsky district with a backup route. The project provides for bringing the road parameters to the IV technical category with asphalt concrete pavement 6 meters wide and a set of measures to ensure road safety” - the department spokesman said.

To date, the work on the construction of artificial road structures, fracking operation and the preparation of foundation for pavement is underway. At the facility, 13 units of road-building equipment and 21 specialists are involved daily. The section of road is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2020.
