Makhachkala Commercial Seaport handles 5 million tons of cargo in 2014

Makhachkala, January 15, 2015. Over the past year, Makhachkala Sea Trade Port handled 4.952 million tons of cargo. The press service of the port told RIA Dagestan transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 686,000 tons – it has increased by 154% as compared with 2013.

They shipped 306,000 tons of grain to Iran. The turnover growth was over 334%. Construction materials imports also gained 104%, in particular, they accepted 330,000 tons of Iranian cement.

"The port’s priority for 2015 is to attract new goods and creating favorable conditions for cargo and ship owners. In particular, soon they will launch construction of a new checkpoint across the Russian state border. The reconstruction is designed to increase the capacity of terminals. The new border crossing will occupy about 6,700 square meters," commented CEO of Makhachkala Commercial Seaport Akhmed Gajiyev.
