Investment potential of renewable energy sources of Dagestan discussed at round table in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, June 8, 2015. The investment potential of renewable energy sources in Dagestan has been discussed today in the conference Hall of Dagestan State Technical University in Makhachkala. The deputy Prime Minister RD Magomed Isayev, the director of the republican branch of "RusHydro" JSC Timur Gamzatov, the heads of ministries and departments, the representatives of academia and the energy companies attended the event.

Preceding the meeting, Magomed Isayev noted that the fuel and energy complex of the republic is in dire need of reform: "A lot of questions and problems that occur regularly in the republic are connected with the topic under discussion. Together with the experts in the area, we gathered today in DSTU to understand and discover opportunities exist in Dagestan for making the region attractive to investors".

According to Isayev, for the last 20 years, the fuel and energy complex of Dagestan was in a stage of stagnation, all the infrastructure outdated and must be upgraded. This situation adversely affects the economy of the republic. "In dialogue we must find together the solution to this problem. We need to find out what we can offer to investors and what are the grounds for the implementation of investment projects in this sphere in the republic" - the deputy Prime Minister stated.

The director of Dagestan branch of the "RusHydro" JSC Timur Gamzatov spoke on the fact that the round table would become the starting point for resolving the contemporary situation prevailed in the country.

"The meeting participants would develop proposals for more effective measures in terms of implementation of tasks in the field of hydropower and renewable sources development. Speaking about the geographic and climatic possibilities in Dagestan, they are, of course, great, but there are some problems, we face the fact that the efforts of various organizations are multidirectional. Thus, our task is to guide these efforts in the right direction, to find common ground among the local initiatives and the capabilities of the federal center. Moreover, it is very gratifying that this event takes place at the site of the Technical University. This university interacts with the branch of "RusHydro" in Dagestan not for the first year and always supports it in all endeavors"- Gamzatov said.

Then Gamzatov visually demonstrated and told in detail on how the whole system of the electricity market works in the Russian Federation, on the economy and investment attractiveness of hydropower construction and so on. During the discussion, the participants of the round table worked out proposals that will be further considered and taken into account for solving the urgent issues.
