Sochi, February 15, 2019. According to the regional government press service, the agreement between the Republic of Dagestan and the Russian Railways on cooperation in the field of railway transport has been signed within the framework of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi. The document was signed by Dagestani Head Vladimir Vasilyev, on the one hand and the director general, the chairman of the Board of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, on the other.

In accordance with the agreements reached, the parties will cooperate in the direction of increasing the level of transport efficiency in Dagestan by meeting the needs for passengers and goods transportation.

The agreement also provides for cooperation in the implementation of federal and regional programs aimed at creating favorable investment climate in the region. Besides, support is expected in the direction for development of suburban passenger companies in order to improve the quality of passenger service and the construction of wholesale distribution centers for food products.

The interaction will also affect the development of investment projects, modernization of the railway infrastructure, including for the development of promising volumes of transit traffic within the North-South ITC. The cooperation will be established in a number of other important areas.

It is expected that the agreement will be valid till the end of 2024.
