MAKHACHKALA, June 8 – RIA Dagestan. Shamil Dzhamaev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan and Abdulmagomed Magomedov, Head of the Expert Council on Trade and Economic Issues under the Muftiate of the Republic of Dagestan, have discussed measures to increase the production of meat according to halal standards in the republic.
The meeting was also attended by Zubairu Nurmagomedov, Head of the Department for the Organization of Anti-Epizootic Measures of the government Veterinary Committee and staff members of the relevant expert council under the Muftiate.
According to Shamil Dzhamaev, the agricultural ministry maintains its cooperation with the Muftiate, focusing especially on providing halal-certified products to consumers inside the republic and beyond. The top official underlined the need for rigorous adherence to applicable standards, compulsory animal identification and the enforcement of disease prevention measures.
Abdulmagomed Magomedov, in turn, noted that any violations of the rules for keeping and slaughtering livestock contradicted not only veterinary regulations but also religious canons. He added that global demand for halal meat was constantly growing, which made its production a priority not just in Dagestan.
The parties agreed to enhance educational efforts among agricultural producers to explain the inadmissibility of unauthorized herding and slaughter of animals. The representative of the Muftiate assured that local imams were ready to join this initiative.
