MAKHACHKALA, June 12 – RIA Dagestan. An illustrated collection of fairy tales for children, developed by the G. Tsadasa Institute of Language, Literature and Art of Dagestan Federal Research Center of the RAS, has been presented in Makhachkala. The initiative was implemented as part of the Haji Makhachev Fund's grant competition.
The presentation brought together Fund President Patimat Magomedova, People's Assembly Deputy Muslim Gindiev, the head of the Writers' Union of Dagestan Marina Akhmedova, as well as academics, institute personnel, poets, authors and visual artists. In her opening speech, Patimat Magomedova highlighted how the project contributed to the preservation of the indigenous languages and cultural legacy of the peoples of Dagestan. Scientific Secretary of the Institute Yu. Murtuzaliev then presented the project in depth, using illustrations to accompany his talk.
Muslim Gindiev asserted that the primary objective today was to preserve the native languages of Dagestan for future generations, adding that the compilation of such collections necessitates a synthesis of deep theoretical insight and practical proficiency in folklore. The book incorporates fairy tales collected by folklore department personnel, material from personal archives and the manuscript holdings of academic institutes, as well as texts from previously issued works. Currently, eight layouts in various languages are prepared and awaiting publication.
Attendees highly praised the project, singling out the artwork of illustrator A.A. Magomedov for special commendation. Dagestan Republican Branch of the Russian Geographical Society will also take part in bringing the project to fruition. Highlighting the cultural importance of the publication, Marina Akhmedova, Chair of Dagestan Union of Writers, emphasized that such literature must be accessible in every family, preschool and educational institution.
