MAKHACHKALA, August 14 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan has become the backdrop for a new historical drama, Golitsyn, dedicated to the extraordinary fate of Prince Lev Golitsyn — aristocrat and pioneering winemaker. The director is Sergey Chekalov known for such acclaimed works as the historical epic Constantinople, the multi-part detective series Squad and the stylish retro mystery Bison: The Case of the Mannequin. The cast is led by Danila Kozlovsky, Svetlana Ivanova and Ksenia Kutepova, joined by a constellation of other Russian screen stars.
Production is currently centred in Khunzakhsky District, where local residents are taking part in scenes depicting a rebellion. Between August 23 and September 12, the filmmakers will shift their attention to Derbent and its scenic surroundings.
For those eager to step into the world of imperial Russia, the organizers have opened applications to anyone over 18 — whether as vineyard labourers, household servants or elegantly dressed guests at a grand celebration: feudal lords, landowners and princes with their spouses.
