Makhachkala, July 10, 2018. On July 9, Dokuzparinsky district of Dagestan will host the solemn opening ceremony of the International Festival of Extreme Tourism "Yarydag-2018". The event is expected to gather about 1,000 extreme tourism lovers.
The festival participants, united in 147 teams, will represent Azerbaijan, Belarus, Israel and Russia. The event is dedicated to the Year of Safety Culture. The festival will take place near the village of Kurush, at the foot of the mountain massif Yarydag, Shalbuzdag and Bazarduzi. The alpinists’ camp will be located in the same place.

"The competitions will be held in accordance with the rules of ascension. The festival program includes classification competitions in mountaineering of varying complexity, trekking routes, hiking, mountain jogging as well as the photo tours" - Raisa Ataeva, the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Dagestan told.

Recall, the village of Kurush is the highest mountainous settlement in Europe and the southernmost in Russia, the aul is located at an altitude of 2,560 meters above sea level. The height of the mountain Yarydag, located at the border with Azerbaijan, is 3925 meters. This is the venue for holding the Russian Mountaineering Championship since 2002. The event will last till July 15.
