Such an opinion has been voiced by Kazem Mohammadi, the Embassy Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the meeting with Dagestani Head Sergei Melikov.

"The relations between Iran and Russia have been continuously developing, especially in recent years. Dagestan could become a gateway to improve relations between our countries. Several delegations from Iran visited the region. Now we are waiting for them here. I would like to see the development of cooperation in the sphere of tourism. It would be great to open direct flights from Makhachkala to Iran. We are also waiting for the opening of the North-South corridor" - Mohammadi said.

Sergei Melikov, for his part, pointed out that Russia had always paid special attention to the issues of international cooperation. "Dagestan is one of the pearls of the whole Caucasus. This is not the first time we are meeting with You. I am sure that further meetings will contribute to the development of our cooperation. I extend my best wishes to my friend, Mr. Ambassador" - the Head of the region summed up.
