Volunteers to be involved in restoration of cultural heritage sites

Makhachkala, April 12, 2018. The State Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation considers a bill on the possibility of attracting volunteers to carry out certain types of works on preserving the object of cultural heritage.
As to Zaur Kakhrimanov, the head of the republican Agency for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage, the relevant amendments are planned to be included in the Federal Law "On Objects of Cultural Heritage (Monuments of History and Culture) of the Peoples of the Russian Federation".

According to the amendments, it is proposed to supplement Article 45 with a new provision on the participation of volunteers in works on preserving cultural heritage objects in the manner determined by the Ministry of Culture of Russia. Kakhrimanov pointed out that such an order will allow to effectively use the potential of volunteer enthusiasts and to competently organize their work to save the cultural heritage of the country.

The head of the department reminded that year of 2018 was announced in Russia as the Year of Volunteering. Kakhrimanov noted that Dagestan possesses rich experience in attracting volunteers to work on the restoration of cultural heritage sites. Besides, an institute of public inspectors attached to the Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage had lately started operating in the region. It monitors the situations associated with cultural sites in their municipalities" - Kakhrimanov said.
