200 hectares of new vineyards to be planted in Dagestan

Makhachkala, April 6, 2020. This spring Dagestan farmers plan to plant 200 hectares of new vineyards. Basically, the new vineyards will be planted in the territories of Karabudakhkent, Kayakent, Babayurt and Derbent municipal districts. The state reimburses part of costs for planting vineyards, caring for them, as well as the installation of drip irrigation system. Basically, in spring, the table grape varieties are planted. The bulk of the work is planned for autumn. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Dagestan, in total this year 1400 hectares of new vineyards will be planted. Last year the territory of new vineyards amounted to 900 hectares. In 2019, a record grape harvest was collected in Dagestan over the past thirty years - 193.2 thousand tons of grapes.
