150 thousand spawn species of Russian sturgeon released to Caspian Sea

Makhachkala, August 5, 2018. Makhachkala branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Rosmorport" released 150 thousand spawn species of Russian sturgeon into the Caspian Sea. The fish was released within the three kilometer territory fr om the mouth of the Sulak River.

According to the press service of the West Caspian Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo, the fish spawn was delivered from Volgograd to Dagestan on a special truck.

"The complicated transportation process took more than 24 hours. The transportation was carried out in special containers, wh ere the 16-degree temperature regime and the necessary level of oxygen were maintained"- the department officer said.
The release of fish was carried out to compensate the damage caused to aquatic bioresources as a result of dredging in the water area of the Caspian Sea. In total, the company plans to produce more than 250,000 species of sturgeon juveniles during August.

"This is one of the largest compensatory releases of the Red Book fish in the territory of Dagestan" - the press service of the Federal Service for Supervision of Fisheries said.
