KASPIYSK, June 4 – RIA Dagestan. The 25th Open Championship of the Republic of Dagestan in Army Hand-to-Hand Combat for the Cup of the Head of the Republic of Dagestan took place at the Ali Aliyev Sports and Youth Palace in Kaspiysk.
The tournament commemorated the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and honored the memory of those who died in the terrorist attack in Kaspiysk on May 9, 2002. Before the competition began, participants and guests laid flowers at the memorial to the victims and a commemorative ceremony was held inside the Sports Palace beside the portraits of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
The tournament was organized by the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Dagestan and the Army Hand-to-Hand Combat Federation of the Republic of Dagestan. A total of 135 athletes participated in the event, including 35 participants of the Special Military Operation. Representatives from nine law enforcement agencies and 25 military-sports clubs across the republic competed for the awards, with the event attended by veterans, combat veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Following the team standings among the law enforcement agencies and departments, first place was taken by the 58th Army, which won the Cup of the Head of the Republic of Dagestan. Second place was awarded to the Internal Affairs Ministry of the Republic of Dagestan. The SKA team from Rostov-on-Don became the third-place winner. Among the municipalities, the team from Makhachkala emerged as the winner, with Kaspiysk taking second place and Kizilyurt securing third.
