MAKHACHKALA, September 14 – RIA Dagestan. Competing in Krakow, Poland, Dagestani grappler Magomed Dzharbaev claimed gold in the fiercely contested under-77-kilogram category at the biennial ADCC World Championship. This triumph ends a 27-year gold medal drought for Russia at the event, a streak dating back to the historic victory of Dzharbaev's fellow countryman Karimula Barkalaev.
The champion, who earned his qualification by winning the European Championship in Poland exactly a year ago, hones his skills at the Agat sports school under the tutelage of Honored Coach of Russia Murad Abdullaev.
UFC champion Islam Makhachev publicly congratulated the duo on their success, which was further bolstered by another Dagestani athlete, Ruslan Abdulaev, taking home a bronze.
