KAZAN, September 21 – RIA "Dagestan". The "Palmira" youth squad from Makhachkala School Number 59 has won a silver medal at the Russian Micro-Futsal Championships in Kazan, competing in the 3x3 format for boys born in 2014 and 2015.
Navigating a highly competitive 12-team bracket between September 12 and 19, Dagestani team swept their group stage matches and advanced through the quarterfinals and semifinals by defeating "Rubin" and Sports School Number 6, respectively.
Their championship aspirations were ultimately halted in the final by Novosibirsk's "Sirius" who snatched the victory with a critical goal scored in the dying seconds of the match.
Despite the narrow defeat, the tournament was a massive success for the squad led by Arsen Abakarov and coach Kudrat Gadaev, especially as their star player Magomedgasan Shikhaev earned top scorer honors with an impressive 11 goals.
