MAKHACHKALA, September 7 – RIA "Dagestan". Acting Head of Dagestan Fyodor Shchukin met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin to discuss key regional developments and disaster recovery efforts. Shchukin provided a comprehensive update on the local economy, support measures for special military operation veterans and the aftermath of the flooding that struck the republic between late March and early April.
President Putin specifically instructed that any legal complications concerning property ownership registration in the flooded zones should never impede the provision of state assistance to affected citizens. Summing up his report, the regional governor praised the extensive national support, revealing that over 3,000 volunteers from various Russian regions assisted in flood mitigation operations in Dagestan.
According to Shchukin, the Kremlin meeting addressed critical systemic issues in Dagestan requiring federal aid, such as revamping transport and utility grids, executing national projects and driving investment into vital economic sectors.
The regional head also transmitted the republic's heartfelt thanks to the President for his special focus on preserving and celebrating the legacy of the great Dagestani poet Rasul Gamzatov. Shchukin highlighted that the President's unique bond with Dagestan was continuously proven through robust federal backing, which spans from emergency disaster recovery to the rollout of transformative, quality-of-life projects.
