MAKHACHKALA, March 26 – RIA Dagestan. The Republic of Dagestan has delivered humanitarian assistance totaling approximately 150 tons to Iran, comprising food products and essential goods intended to support individuals affected by challenging circumstances. Residents of Makhachkala, Derbent the village of Miskindzha and other localities across the republic participated actively in the collection effort, coordinated by the Ministry of Transport of Dagestan, the Representative Office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Russian Federation in Makhachkala and the charitable "Clean Heart" Foundation.
Transportation was provided by Dagestani carriers through the Association of International Road Carriers. The cargo will be transferred to the Iranian Red Crescent Society for distribution among low-income and vulnerable residents.
As noted by the Head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, the republic has long been recognized for its capacity for collective action and the current initiative serves as further confirmation of this tradition.
"I am always proud that our compatriots are among the first to respond when assistance is needed. This is precisely why there are so many accounts reflecting the generosity of the Dagestani spirit. When a neighbor faces hardship, we extend a helping hand. This unwritten principle, inherited from our ancestors, continues to guide our actions today, including at the international level" – the regional governor said.
The top official recalled that Iran remains a trusted friend and reliable partner for Dagestan, with active cooperation in logistics, freight transportation, tourism, agriculture and culture, particularly in the development of the International North–South Transport Corridor. "To our brotherly Iran: strength and resilience. May our support provide comfort to those currently enduring hardships" - Melikov added.
