MAKHACHKALA, September 30 – RIA "Dagestan". Sazhid Sazhidov, Acting Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Dagestan, held a bilateral meeting with Marcos Oliveira, President of the Brazilian Martial Arts Federation, to discuss prospects for expanding cooperative ties.
Brazilian specialist has been visiting Dagestan for approximately two months. During his stay, he toured several regional sports facilities and got familiarized with the local athlete training systems, showing a keen interest in martial arts. Oliveira, a former professional fighter who has competed against Dagestani athletes in mixed martial arts, is currently focused on developing international sports relations. He stated that Brazil is highly interested in strengthening partnerships with Dagestan, recognizing the republic as a premier hub for training elite martial fighters.
A key objective could be the signing of a formal cooperation agreement. This partnership would facilitate the exchange of expertise, the organization of joint training camps, master classes, and seminars, as well as professional development programs for coaches.
Furthermore, the Brazilian delegation proposed broadening the scope of collaboration beyond martial arts to include Olympic disciplines where Brazilian athletes excel. Sazhid Sazhidov welcomed the initiative, reaffirming Dagestan’s commitment to fostering international sports partnerships.
